Learning Through Travel

This article, The Power of Travel for Student Success, discusses the importance of teachers traveling. By traveling teachers gain experiences that can be taken back to their classrooms. Traveling cements these experiences in one's mind. By traveling teachers and students:

• Learn about new places and gain a deeper understanding of its history.
• Opens their minds, broadens horizons, and increases tolerance levels.
• Gain practical experiences.
• Traveling allows one to more readily remember what they have learned.
• Gain experiences that can not be duplicated through books.

Traveling is a great way for teachers and students to learn where history happened. Although my courses are now online, they still offer these opportunities for teachers. Teachers can learn completely online or chose to travel to the course they are learning about. Please learn more about my courses here. First Person Educators are always talking about what happens in the classroom-from the Common Core State Standards to testing to social-emotional learning. So much of what happens inside school walls is based on results, not the journey that led to them.

Courses through Fresno Pacific University, Center for Professional Development can be taken in as little as 3 weeks or up to 1 year. A minimum of one week per unit of study has been set, by design, as a standard for all Center for Professional Development Independent Study courses. However, students may take up to one year to complete a course.
